If you are in Krakow, for example, you only have to go to the Consulate on Krakowska Street in Kazimierz (Monday, Wednesday, Friday between 9 -12), fill out an application, leave your passport, then go to the nearest bank to pay in the money. Later that day go back to the Consulate with proof of payment and you're done. If you want it done same day it costs a bit more, otherwise you wait a few days and pay less...... Simple as that.
